Dustin is an at-large candidate for Aurora City Council, a small business owner, and a member of the Aurora Citizens Advisory Budget Committee. He is a former congressional and legislative staffer and was the Vice President of Strategy and Innovation for a national non-profit. He lives in Aurora with his wife and three children.

Dustin Zvonek was born to a 19-year-old, single, working mom. He lived through many of the hardships that too many families in our community face today. Growing up, Dustin watched neighbors, friends, and his own mother struggle to make ends meet and afford basic necessities. Witnessing his late mother selflessly sacrifice for him and his younger sister, making tough choices that no mother should have to make, has given Dustin a deep compassion for families struggling through life challenges.

While Dustin’s childhood was filled with challenging circumstances, he considers himself fortunate to have had family who modeled a strong value system. It was Dustin’s grandfather, Joe, who provided valuable life lessons and offered him a vision of a future that was more than he otherwise could have dreamed possible. Through his words and actions, Dustin’s grandfather instilled in him the timeless principles of working hard, having integrity, being true to your word, and serving others.

The early examples of service and compassion set by his grandfather, as well as his own life experiences, fostered Dustin’s commitment to helping others and serving his community. He has served the City of Aurora and the community as a congressional staffer, charter school board member, and volunteer youth coach. Dustin is a member of the Aurora Citizens Advisory Budget Committee, for which he recently chaired the subcommittee responsible for reviewing city spending.

Dustin managed the Aurora-based district office for a member of Congress and, prior to that, was the policy director for the Colorado State Senate Minority Leader. Dustin later served as Vice President of Strategy and Innovation for a national non-profit, where he was responsible for identifying inefficiencies and driving continuous improvement utilizing testing, data, and innovation. Dustin is now focused on using his decade of public policy experience to serve Aurora as a member of City Council.

Currently, Dustin is a small business owner in Aurora as the founder of Zvonek Consulting, an Aurora based business that provides executive management services to its clients. Dustin earned his bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University while working full-time at an office supply store to pay his way through college.

Dustin lives in Aurora with his wife and three children, who are students in Cherry Creek Public Schools. Dustin and his family are members of Eastern Hills Community Church.

As a local business owner and proud father of school-aged children, Dustin is fully invested in the future of Aurora. He believes we have a responsibility to build a better future - a future that ensures Aurora is a city where people from all walks of life can safely live, work, and raise their families.
